Today, on the anniversary of 9/11, the tragic events of that day are present in our minds. We remember the destruction and the atrocities committed by people who made the decision to hate rather than love. We remember the victims and honor their memories. But we also remember the day that ordinary people became heroes. People who started the day like any other and by the end had risked their lives for complete strangers. People who could have turned and run away, but instead ran into the buildings as the crumbled to get as many out as they could. To those ordinary, extraordinary heroes, thank you. Thank you for proving that even in the face of evil, human beings have an incredible capacity for goodness.
