This is an awesome blog post by foz meadows discussing the actual contributions by women throughout history. And I’m not talking about solely as mothers and wives either. Really worth the read! It argues against those who claim that SF/Fantasy becomes too unrealistic for the reader if anyone besides a straight-white-male is in a position of power. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the point of SF/Fantasy to be able to build new worlds different from our own? And by the way, it turns out that those created worlds where women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community are just as powerful as straight, white men aren’t so unrealistic after all. 🙂
